Pasta per tutti: Como, Italy

Last Sunday, we decided to take a day trip via train to Lago di Como. In recent days it has been in the 90 degree temps, so the idea to venture out of the city and toward a very large body of water sounded really really nice! After a 1hr train ride through the countryside, we arrived in the city of Como. Much to my surprise, Michele had never actually been to Como. There was a fresh, cool breeze and we both agreed a nice coffee and brioche would be the perfect start to the day. We walked about the city planning our adventure as we went along. Next we took a small boat out to the small village of "Torno". As we stepped off the boat, it felt as if we stepped into the "Amazing Race" TV show. Although we were not racing for a million dollars, our mission was to find a restaurant and gather our reward lunch. Up & down numerous stairs, down and through the very narrow stone wall paths between houses, up, down and all around. The moment I heard a loud group of people at the end of our paths, my guess was "it must be a restaurant" Ha! Much to my surprise, it was just the locals gathered around in various corners for leisurely Sunday chatter. Eventually we found a nice place and it was "molto buono!" Excellent food! We had the "Pesce in carpione" as the appetizer. Then I had the "Ravioli con salmone," grilled vegetables and Michele had the "Lavarello al burro." The views were spectacular along the lake and we enjoyed the day to the fullest!
