Today we started the day with another 3.2mile trek in the snow in our area. It consists of some pretty
straight up and straight down hills so the perfect "around the block" tour after all of those holiday meals. After about 20 min into our walk, we came upon a barn and noticed a quick flying object that we realized was an owl. It was around 11am, so it came as a surprise to us that we saw it in the daylight hours. After some quick research, we discovered that it is a "Great Grey Owl" also referred to as the "lapland owl or phantom of the north" in Wikipedia, but it is also the same type of owl, Errol of Ronald Weasley. :) It was clearly hunting and these owls are known to be able to hear prey under deep snow. We did our best to capture some photos below that we hope you will enjoy. Tomorrow the photographer will have the "other" lens with him and hope we see it again to get some clearer shots. As we approached, it definitely was looking directly at our four legged friend who was oblivious as to why we stopped on the tour. Mozy dog enjoyed cruising down the hills on the sled along the way.
